Brief info

Born in 1947.
He obtained his medical education at the School of Medicine of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

He established the Schlesinger Institute for the Study of Medicine according to the Torah by the Sha'arei Tzedek Medical Center and led it for many years.

Specialized also in pediatric of child neurology at Montefiore and Einstein Hospital in New York.

In 1985-1996 he was head of the Medical Ethics Program of the School of Medicine at the Hebrew University and Chairman of the Ethics Committee of the Israeli Association of Child Neurology.

In 2003, he was appointed director of the Medical Ethics Unit at Shaare Zedek Medical Center and chairman of several public committees.

Prof. Steinberg, together with his friend Dr. Halperin, stood for decades alongside with great Rabbi’s in all areas of medical ethics and Halacha.

Prof. Steinberg is the author of the Encyclopedia of Medicine and Law, Israel Prize laureate for Torah Literature. And today, he serves as executive director of "Yad Rabbi Herzog and the Talmudic Encyclopedia." And editor-in-chief of the Talmudic Microphedia Project.
